Overview
The NSL series vertical sludge pumps and sand suction pumps are designed to extract sand slurries from river, stream, and lake beds, as well as sludge and debris from ponds. They are also ideal for use in conjunction with drilling and piling equipment, making them suitable for applications in coal washing plants, tile factories, paper mills, mineral processing plants, the salt industry, gold mining operations, and other related sectors.
Key Features and Design
Strong through-put capability:
This design features a large, open-type impeller or a closed-type impeller with fewer blades—typically 3 to 5—and wide-flow channels. Such a configuration allows larger solid particles (like pebbles or gravel) to pass through easily, effectively preventing clogs.
Excellent wear resistance:
The flow passage components—including impellers, pump casings, and wear plates—are all manufactured from high-chromium alloy cast iron (such as Cr15Mo3 or Cr26). This material boasts high hardness and exceptional resistance to abrasive wear, resulting in a service life that far surpasses that of conventional materials.
Critical components, such as the impeller inlet and the inner walls of the pump casing, undergo thickening treatment to extend their replacement cycle.
Efficient sealing system:
The shaft seal is critical for horizontal sand pumps. Typically, it employs a combination of an auxiliary impeller and a packing seal.
The auxiliary impeller: As the pump operates, it rotates along with the shaft, generating reverse pressure that effectively reduces the pressure inside the pump chamber, preventing slurry from entering the shaft seal area. This is the most critical method for preventing leakage.
Gland packing: As an auxiliary seal, it typically allows for a small amount of leakage to provide lubrication and cooling.
For more demanding operating conditions, mechanical seals can also be selected.
Diverse transmission methods:
Direct-drive transmission: The motor is directly connected to the pump via a coupling, resulting in a compact design and high efficiency.
Belt drive: Speed reduction is achieved via pulleys. The advantage is that the pump speed can be easily adjusted by simply changing the pulleys, allowing you to modify the pump’s performance—such as flow rate and head—to suit various operating conditions. Additionally, this system requires less precision in motor installation and helps absorb shock loads.
Flexible installation options:
It can be installed ashore as a land-based pump and operates by drawing water in through a suction pipe.
More commonly, it is installed alongside a matching power source—such as an electric motor or diesel engine—on vessels or floating platforms, forming a sand-suction or dredging vessel.
